Contrary to the rules of the FC, one of the films I have in mind is definitely big budget with big actors, but I think it is the type of film that would trigger quite a bit of discussion (similar to the way Interstellar has). I guess if it's in my nominations people can make a choice ?

Mmmmmm. I'm reasonably open to that, but I really wouldn't like the Film Club to move to far in the big budget direction. As you say, if it's just one of the films, we still have a choice.

Name your films whenever you're ready.

I'm with BBB on this point. One of the enjoyable aspects of the club, for me has been the fact that it has introduced me to so many films that I would not have watched otherwise. Consequently I think it would be a negative step to move the ethos/focus of the club towards mainstream films (especially blockbusters). It is true that big budget/actors is not necessarily the same as blockbusters - so feel free to nominate your film, because if it is just one film from four, there will still be plenty of choice.

However you run the risk of breaking another of the club rules, which is that members may not nominate films which have been watched already, by two or more other members. The more mainstream a film, the greater the risk of breaking this rule.

I just don't want to make an assumption the films with larger budgets / top actors don't have anything worth saying, but I'll leave it upto the Film Club members. My 4 films are :

CLOUD ATLAS http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1371111/. (Yes this is the controversy choice, but I feel might spark sme discussion).

CRONOS. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104029/

RUST AND BONE. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2053425/

NOSFERATU. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0013442/

I hadn't heard of it, and it does look interesting, so I don't have a problem with it being included.

My votes are:

Cronos 4 pts

Cloud Atlas 3 pts

Rust and Bone 2 pts

Nosferatu 1 pt

Tough one. I'm giving Cloud Atlas the 4 points as it is the only one I haven't yet seen. The rest I've based on how recently I've seen them, so the most recent gets less points.

Cronos 3pts

Rust And Bone 2pts

Nosferatu 1pt

My votes for next months:

4pts - Cronos (anything by del Toro gets my vote)

3pts - Rust and Bone (Marion Cotillard always watchable)

2pts - Cloud Atlas (I started this on Amazon Prime and immediately wanted to punch people)

1pt - Nosferatu (has never interested me in the slightest)

If my maths is right, I make that a tie between Cronos and Cloud Atlas, which leaves Richard to decide which one we watch.

I've watched Tyrannosaur.

ill go for CROMOS, as the May film. I've seen CLOUD ATLAS & love it (JD, you really should give it another go). But I've been wanting to see Cronos for a while. I'd definitely encourage everybody to watch CA.

For the first time in ages I've got nothing to do for weekend; no work (that'll change) and nothing else on.

In other words I'm bored, so I thought I pose FC members (and anyone else who'd like to answer) a question.

What are your five favourite songs from the movies (name the song, artist and film; there are no other rules)?

The song might have been purposefully written as a film tie-in (e.g. "Show Me Heaven," though don't pick that one), or appropriated from elsewhere (pre-existing music).

Oo fun. Not sure whether all of these songs were written specifically for the films they're in, but I've always had that impression.

1) (by miles) Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Market a Irglova from Once.
2) I See Fire by Ed Sheeran from Desolation of Smaug
3) (I Had) The Time of My Life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes from Dirty Dancing
4) King of Wishful Thinking by Go West from Pretty Woman
5) Live and Let Die by Wings from Live and Let Die

I actually misread the question and eschewed pre-existing music, so might have feasibly included Stuck In The Middle With You from Reservoir Dogs and Back in Black from Iron Man. I also think I would retract Live and Let Die and replace it with Nobody Does It Better from The Spy Who Loved Me...
