It's not looking like Ben is coming back, but it would be nice to know his reason if that is the case, because he has been one of the most enthusiastic and informed members, and I'd personally really like him to stay involved.

Who wants to continue for now with just the 4 of us, with the hope that either Ben or Strapped return to the fold, or someone new expresses an interest in joining?

I'd like to carry on.

Did we have a winner from David's nominations ?

Let's try for a while, but I think we need extra members. Strapped please rejoin in our hour of need. *help*

Any one else interested should post on here and let us know.

I cannot find the numbers but from memory, I think that it was another "any one from three can win, with one person left" vote.

I'd be happy to give this a go - if someone could let me know how you guys choose and view the films? I'm no Barry Norman but I know what I like and can generally string a few sentences together.

Going to work in a second, so I'll have to be quick.

Have a good look at the thread and see if the films we choose are ones that you might watch, then let us know if you'd like to join.

Tyrannosaur; which I have seen, unfortunately. Unless we get a new member who votes against it, this will be the film to watch in April.

Now, got to go......

Might you be considering a return to the fold, John?

Yes.

Yes, you're considering, or yes, you're making an heroic return?
I'm considering, If you'll have me. My life is about to come out of flux, hopefully, and I will have time and inclination. Although I won't have a TV or a bluray player in the first instance, note...

It'd be good to have you back, John. Just say when you're ready to join in.

Each member takes it in turns to nominate a film each month. He chooses 3 or 4, and the other members award points for the films; 4 - 1 if 4 films were nominated, 3 - 1 if 3 films were nominated. The film that gets the most points is the film every member has to watch before the end of the month.

You can either buy the film, or rent it via Netflix etc.

The idea of the club was to choose less known, Indie, Arthouse or foreign language films, so we tend to stay away from anything that would be considered mainstream; so no Hollywood blockbusters.

Off the top of my head, some of the films we have watched are:

As If I Am Not There http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1456477/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Requiem http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454931/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3

La Antena http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0454065/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Survive Style 5+ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430651/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

My Life As A Dog http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089606/?ref_=nv_sr_1

The Girl From Nowhere http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2332514/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Delicatessen http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101700/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Mulholland Drive http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0166924/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Pan's Labyrinth http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/?ref_=nv_sr_1

i thought it was decided. Is it the April film ? Have we got till the end of this month ?

I was just checking that all of us remaining members were going to watch it, so yes, let's all try to watch it before the end of April.

I've seen it quite recently, so I won't be watching it again, but I'm pretty sure I can remember enough detail to be able to discuss it.

I'm a bit concerened that David hasn't been on here for a while, so I do hope we haven't lost another member. It does look like JD will be coming back, and I'm always hopeful Strapped will return at some point (he just needs to get his priorities sorted *biggrin*). GRDunn looked interested, but hasn't been back since expressing an interest, so I'm not sure he's that keen.

Mike and BBB, it really is a question of time rather than inclination on my part.

I logged on to make FC members and anyone else interested aware of the BFI's recent BD release of Rossellini's War Trilogy.

There's no other BD of these three Italian neorealist films, while the BFI release is limited to 3,000 copies.

In other words, it's a must buy for cinephiles (and I'd imagine a few capitalists seeking to make a quick profit once stocks run out).
