Hello,

Does anyone here have this speakers?! I'm planning to buy this speaker to partner with my Yamaha RX-V473.

My preferrence is 50-50. 50% Movies 50% Music.

Many experts or reviewers will recommend Tannoy HTS-101 over Wharfedale DX-1 HCP. The Tannoy HTS 101 has a five star reviews from whathifi.com and trustedreviews.com and the Wharfedale DX 1HCP also got five star review with whathifi.com and 4.5 on trustedreviews.com. Also on paper and internet the Tannoy HTS 101 may look like the better system according to reviews, and the speaker boxes are made of real wood that why reviewers love them over Wharfedale DX-1 HCP. But what i read from consumers they like the Wharfedale DX-1 HCP over Tannoy HTS-101 because its has warm sound. But most of them prefer 70-30, 70% movies 30% music. I want a speaker who can manage movies and music at it's best. Only this two speaker's will fit my budget.

I can't audition this speaker's here. I'm living in UAE and here they have this speaker's but they don't have display to audition and they dont like it to open for audition.

Please dont be biased, and tell the true difference between the two speakers.

Thanks! :)

tannoys are better but save some money and get the q acoustics 2000i these will be great with music and movies it will be worth the extra money i promise you

Thanks for the input. :) Can i ask you what speaker you are using?

I've heard the performance of Q Acoustics 2000i, my friend have one and i love the quality of the sound but its out of my budget and its bigger.

So should i choose tannoy over wharfedale?

Thanks again

I would go for Tannoys if getting a Pioneer A/V as they usually match very well, having owned one in the past. At present I have a Yamaha A/V & use Dali speakers, they seem a good match ( to my ears ) with my amp.

It is all down to the budget, so therefore i would recommend a demo first with your chosen A/V amp & speakers to see if you like the sound if you can get the chance, which i see is difficult in your case.

Can you not find someone with a similar setup that you could listen to? If not then the Tannoys would certainly be my favourite as a blind buy.

Regards ..

I'm also considering buying either the Tannoy HTS or Wharfedale DX1, I will be pairing them with a Yamaha AVR maybe the 475 or 675. I will be using them for 60 or 70% movies, strictly bluray and 40 or 30% music I like to listen to R&B/Rap/Hip Hop and Bhangra coz I come from Asian background these have a lot of Bass so I hope you can advise on which one would suit me best. Thanks.

I've got the Tannoys (see signature) and I'm very happy with them. They sound a lot bigger than they are. I'm using them in a 7.1 setup, but the rear speakers are Jamo A102's, for me, they work well together.
