Hi guys.

Currently im using supra 2.0, a-b, 1,5 meter usb cable from my macbook pro to my nad d7050 amp, it works really good.

I have just bought the same usb cable, but 8 meter long, because i need that. When i plug it in, my macbook does not recognize the new long usb cable. What is wrong? is the cable to long?

Thanks..

usb 2 is only rated for up to 5m.

Looks like you need to get things close together (5m at most) ...

I'm a little suprised that your manufacturer makes any 8M USB 2.0 cables. They must know the USB technical standards.

odd isn't it. But then again http://www.supracables.co.uk/digitalaudiocables/usb-digital.html - ie it's an "audiphile" usb cable.

"Handles high speed 1200 Mbps data transfer up to 15m"

so it would appear that they don't seem to know the limitations about what they are making, which kind of speaks volumes imho.

If you absolutely need to have your computer 8m from your DAC, you could use a powered USB hub between two <5m lengths of USB cable. I appreciate this isn't the sort of solution that's likely to appeal to anyone who prefers to use audiophile USB cables.
