Hi!

I am new to Hifi, and as I will have to upgrade/get an amp, a cd player and so on I was thinking about saving up for the naimuniti instead.

Anyway, I am a bit confused about the music streaming.

Is it possible with the naimuniti to play something on my mac - for example Radio 3 on demand - over the naimuniti or do you have to access everything from the uniti itself? I mean can you "send" it something to play, or does it need to pop up as some sort of library on the uniti?

Thanks!!!

If you're talking about iPlayer content, as opposed to 'live' internet radio (which the NaimUniti can pick up anyway) it has to appear as a 'library' of some sort. However, the way it does this is to access a uPnP server running on your Mac (the one I found is eyeconnect), so if you can find one that works with iPlayer (I couldn't immediately with a couple of minutes of googling), then you may be in luck.

The alternative is to use something like airport express (with airfoil) plugged into the DAC of the Uniti (though that may be one more box than you want...)
