Speaker independance

I have wharfedale 10.oneses and there rated at 6ohms. But are compatible with all standard amplifiers outputs even those which state an 8ohm minimum impedance. So which setting on my onkyo a9050 should i use as its got a selector switch 4-8 ohms. Or would this even make any sort of differance.

You will notice no difference .

Speaker impedance is a nominal figure only. It varies with frequency, often quite widely from say 3.5 ohms to 20 or more.

I'd leave your amp set to 8 ohms.
