Speaker cable - quality vs lengths

Hey guys,

I've been running my hifi with some nice Ecosse ms2.3 speaker cable for
the past few years. I bought it cheap 2nd hand, and it came in 2 x 2.5m
lengths. It is terminated on all ends with QED airloc plugs, so I am
unable to shorten the cable without devaluing it significantly....

I really don't need this much cable as my system is quite spaciously
compact... Each speaker is just under a metre away from the power amp.
I have read that you should use the shortest ICs/speaker cable
possible, would I benefit from using shorter runs of cable or is 2.5m
per length ok? The excess cable I'm using is neatly tucked away (without coiling), so it's more for (potential) sound quality than anything else.

It makes sense not to use huge runs if unnecessary, but I don't know if cutting off a meager 1.5m will see much benefit.

Any thoughts?

Ive shortened speaker cable in the past only to regret it later when i wanted to move my speakers further apart.

I would advise to keep your cables as they are as you have decent banana plugs and doubt you will be able to hear any improvement by shortening them. You would get a much better sound by positioning your speakers further apart if this is possible.

you dont have enough to make a difference by saving 1m of cable on a very small length already.
