Hello guys!

Did anyone experienced a movie with direct 5.1 output from a DVD player to separate power amps?
Any pros/cons whether to process the sound with an AV receiver or with DVD player?

Your thoughts / opinions /experiences would be appriciated!

Thanks!

You're going to need a pre-amp in between, otherwise it's going to be very loud..!!

I've got two channel preamp that would control the main speakers. Other three/four speakers could be controlled via DVD settings, plus - all power amps have volume/gain control.

I'm aware that receiver is the easiest way, I'm more interested in the sound comparison. With DVD processing the sound you get pure sound with no effects while receiver has hundreds of settings that are probably not so friendly to the sound quality.

Not sure that you would be able to control the other 3/4 speaker with the dvd player. FWIW power amps do not have volume controls
