Hullo

Am new to this and wondering if someoen on here could help?

Ive always loved Sony and have recently bought a shiny new
KDL46w5500TV. Nows the time to upgrade my matching Sony home cinema. The Sony
BDPS760 Im already set on. Had great reviews and I cant see anything against
it.

Receiver-wise my local Richer Sounds has recommended the
STRDA3500es. It looks nice and its an ES which I also reckon are better made
than other Sony stuff. But I cant see any reviews in it? At £599 it looks a
brilliant price for an ES but does anyone know how good it is?

Has anyone out there heard it? Any good? Any feedback would
be great to know as I want to crack on and get the cinema doen before Xmas!

Al, dont know whats happened to your post with all that computer jargon at the top, but anyway...

Bought myself a Sony 3500es from my local Richers 2 weeks ago (tired of waiting fro the avr2310's to come back into stock).

wasn't too sure at the time, but i've got all Sony kit, had a demo against Onkyo 807 and Yamaha Rxv1900 and it was definitely up there, so i bought it, sounds great, picture processing is up to Sony's usual ES standard and my only real gripe is the fact that Richers promptly dropped the price by £200...(that buys a few BD discs)...gits! Proper bargain though.

The price drop was it within 7 days because they say they will still price match for another 7 days after purchase.

Hi Andrew and jorjxmckie - thank u both for your response.

Andrew - What do you mean by As far as I know? As far as you know its a good unit? Or you have simply heard of it?

Jorjxmcvkie- really sorry to hear you paid to much for it. Hope it gets sorted out. Intertesting that you compared against the Onkyo 807 and Yamaha 3900 as they'r both much more. Ive got a Sony 2400 already and liek the way it works and sounds so am happy to stick with Sony. Do you know, can I connect the Sony 3500 to the internet?

I mean simply that, to the best of my knowledge, we haven't yet received a review sample.

One other question for you jorjxmckie.

I've seen picture on Sony's website and it appears to have 2 remotes? Is this right? Is one a sort of granny-type remote?

I to am interested in this amp, as i had to return a faulty sony 2400ES due to a hissy speaker problem at medium volume on dvd multichannel playback. Is this amp free from that fault? I was otherwise happy with the sound of the 2400ES which cost £399, this amp is £599, is it basicly the same sound quality with added HD Digital Cinema Sound? If so is it worth an extra £200??

All will be revealed in the January issue, out in three weeks - we have recently received a sample of the STR-DA3500ES from Richer Sounds, which has taken a considerable part of Sony's total shipment of this receiver and is selling it for just under £600 in the run-up to Christmas.

Last I heard, it had been running in for a few days in one of our test rooms, and the review crew are due to get stuck into it beginning of next week in order to hit January issue deadlines.

Thanks Andrew,i look forward to reading that issue very much. I considered buying the Denon 2310, but someone in 'your opinion' on your review page said the bass was 'soft'. I did like the depth and attack of the Sony's bass in both movie and music mode but alas it was not to be.

Just to add, I am gonna wait till next year to buy a Sony tv with Freeview HD/Freesat HD built in to go along with an HD amp. But with backlight and hissy speaker problems from Sony who knows when that will happen??

Big Al, the second remote is normally for use in the second zone. Good idea where to put Granny over Christmas!!!
