MY SAMSUNG LCD HAS JUST GONE AFTER 1 YEAR AND 4 MONTHS so im not touching samsung ever again

so im going for sony as it has a 3 year warranty

the 40 inch w5500 is £800 and the 46v5500 is £936 and the only difference is the contrast ratio 60000 to 100000

and the 100hz on the 40w5500 model to 50 hz on the 46v5500 model motion flow.

most people on this forum seem to switch it off the motion flow so what the point in having it?

also is the picture bleed worse on the 40w5500 than the 46v5500?

also can you turn off the eco settings/ light sensor especially the one that turns the tv off if your not directly sat in front of it

any thoughts

I'd go for the 46 inch.if only sony could make colours look like those on the samsungs....by the way wich samsung modeldid you have?seem to be reading a lot of post of samsung 's going dead...

i had the samsung le40m86.

i had a clicking sound and the lcd switched itself on every 45 mins

fault on the main board which with labour costs was not worth it

how much would be the fix? (just in case i have the same problem in the future...)

i was quoted in the region of £300 but as you can get this spec of tv for £550 new i though what a rip off

hence my choice for sony with the 3 year warranty.

so the choice is unreliable tv that dies within 1 1/2 years or have a backlight bleed problem

samsung.very good color.bad relibability.sony not so good colors.backlight issues(not so important to me).what about LG or philips?

not getting samsung to to having one and it going within 1 1/2 years

see above posts

going with sony for 3 year warranty.

not prepared to go for any other make with only 1 year warranty and not paying £189-250 for extended warranty
