So unfortunatly with an hour to go I sold my Sugden on Ebay I was going to keep it if it didn't sell! I will be buying a Abrahamsen V2 UP but until it arrives from Norway i need a trusty stand in. I thought about a Yamaha AS 500 probally get one for £150. Dont really mind age but good sound quality is important to last me a couple of weeks. I can then use it to run speakers in. More of that another time. All suggestions would be gratfully recieved so i can start looking on ebay really need it straight away.

Good shout, Only one at £329 are the A75 and 65 any good? There is a FMJ A18 at £299 which doesn't seem bad.

The A85 seems to be going up in value. I used to love mine so can see why. Make Emporium an offer at £300.

I had an A85/P85 for a couple of years, then decided to upgrade to an Audio Analogue Maestro Settanta. That was actually a downgrade.

I dont want to weld with them!! Probaly power amp i need a intergrated.

too late now .... seller cancelled the ebay auction and most prob had an offer ...

gut feel says I should have bought them (2 of those amps have the same colour LED's and the 3rd one is different .... so perhaps pre-amps/power amp combo

they could have been a good buy for £180 judging from the other equipment in the photo .... seems like the seller did not have a clue as to what he was selling ... probably from a house clearance etc and worth thousands ?

One of these .

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/POP-PULSE-T-150-HIGH-POWERED-TRIPATH-CHIPPED-AUDIOPHILE-AMP-/321645083730?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Amplifiers&hash=item4ae38a7c52

I bought one a few years ago as a tempory stand in whilst my old Electrocompaniet AW120 DMB was away for a service and upgrade , it was powering a pair of PMC OB1's and it was very good indeed a real eye opener in fact !

My Poppulse T150 is currently on what seems to be becoming a long term loan to a friend of mine who has a pair of PMC DB1i's .*smile* His Cyrus pre / power amps with psxr that have developed an intermittent fault are still sitting in their boxes waiting to be sent for repair and I have a funny feeling that is where they are going to stay , and to be honest I don't blame him *smile*.

Here is a manual for the T150 .

Feel free to ignore this post, but I had one of these, and it was the best stereo amp I've had by some distance. Prices seem to be shooting up though, as I got mine for £30, and sold it 3 years or so later for £100.

you can get a Pioneer A400 for approx £120 ....

use it until you amp is fixed, and if you don't like it, you can sell it on for the same price (you might want to keep it though for a secondary system)

This one is £10.50 at present, but there are 9 days to go.

Another good shout the Japs seem to of made some good amps a while ago! Favourite at the mo is Electro's pop it will be used after to run speakers in and it will use little electricity! Added bonus.

That Tripath based amp has vague specification. Some have extremely high distortion with anything other than fairly mediocre output.

Now I know that measurements are not everything (as a former valve amplifier owner/user). Still, worth bearing in mind.

I figured if Electro thought it was good based on his kit and his level headed posts it must sound OK.

Yes, I'd go with that assumption.

Just be aware that the 'up to 77 watts/RMS into 4ohm' in the absence of meaningful distortion figures may work out to be as little as 20w/ch into 8ohm at reasonable distortion.

As 10watts with reasonably efficient speakers can seem fairly loud that may not be a problem. Like I said in another thread, there are exciting and boring watts.
