Sky HD Upscaling question

I have set my HD box to Auto under picture settings for 1080i/720p output in order to let my Denon amp do the upscaling. However, when flicking through channels (HD and non HD content) there is a delay of a few seconds before the picture appears which is fairly annoying. I wondered if anyone else has encountered this with an upscaling amp and if there is any way around it?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers.

This delay is common with upscaling devices, my TV suffers the same delay with my Sky HD box set to auto.

The only way around it is to set the Sky HD box output to 576p,720p or 1080i but this has the disadvantage of using the Sky box to upscale SD content or having the HD content downscaled then upscaled again.

It is probably worth trying the Sky HD with the output at 1080i and seeing if the SD content looks worse than on the auto setting.

Thanks Andy, I'll give it a go on 1080i tonight. The delay is very annoying so hopefully the difference in SD won't be noticable.

I have a 720p TV so would there be any advantage to setting the HD box to 720p?
