My impression is that it has something to do with the player and the Eagles BD.

While the Eagles BD was just running 1o minutes ago, I stopped and opened the drive. Then without touching anything I closed it with the remote and start playing. Again I got the "Unknown Disc" message.

But I also noticed the loading noises every time when I put in the Eagles BD and the player starts with loading (sometimes with success, but most time it fails).

Then I tried two other BD's (P!nK from 11/2013 etc.) and they were playing without an issue.

I think there's nothing I can do. Maybe I should purchase not the Eagles BD but better the DVD :)

Because of the F4 you mentioned I thought you are a german guy. :)

So, think I need to live with the fact that the LX 71 won't play the Eagles Bluray.

Do you know, if the LX 71 is able to play HD DVD?

Ah right, I thought you was on about AVForums where I post too. *smile*

Is the Eagles a Music concert? It won't play HD DVDs for sure. You can still pick up cheap Toshiba HD DVD players if you need one.

ah, no. I was looking at AVForum for any help for the LX71. The Eagles BD is a concert film.

I mainly use the player for Audio playback because of his decent analog stage.

So I think a HD DVD player is not what I'm looking for.

My hope was to playback the Eagles BD with the LX71 via analog.

The LX71 has a great analogue performance for my taste.

Is this the Blu-Ray?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eagles-Farewell-Tour-Blu-ray/dp/B00AR1G3FS/ref=sr_1_5?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1422551296&sr=1-5&keywords=the+eagles

It says its region 1 coding, that could be the problem. What region is yours?

I don't think so. If this would be the problem the BD won't play at all.

The one I have says "All Regions"

It's on amazon.de

Sorry but the link got blocked.

I don't know what else to say, quite a few on here have or have had the Pioneer 71 so perhaps they will know?

It says it's region free on here too:

The bottom user review is a bit interesting he says the Blu-Ray menu system is a bit odd. That could not be it, could it?

You don't use the pause button, do you? That seems to cause problems on this disc!

The Review is interesting. But I don't think it has to do with when I put in the BD into the LX71 that it sometimes starts playing from the beginning and sometimes it don't start playing at all. This is really strange. It seem the that the Bluray lense is sometimes able to read the disc and in another moment it's no more able, even if I didn't change anything (settings etc.)

Actually a few days ago I also purchased another copy of the Bluray disc. So I think it's not the disc pressing .I also could not find any posts where user have had any problems with playing the disc.

But thank you anyway for your thoughts and your help.

I ended up replacing my lx71 with the Denon 3313 due to various problems in playing some of my disks. The Denon plays them all now.

im not saying it is your player and if you cam try your disk in another player at a friends or in AV outlet, this should confirm if the issue is your 71. It could be a firmware issue because pioneer are not very good at releasing the latest to fix issues with playing disks, in particular your ageing 71.

Thanks for your advice. I'm running the LX 71 analogue, but noticed that the Denon don't has analogue out. So this is not a replacement for me.

Maybe there's another option for a replacment. Is the 51FD technical the same as the LX71? Has it also the great analogue stage?

Maybe I will look for a CA 751BD. But I doubt that his analogue stage is so much better than LX 71 analogue stage.

In terms of bluray quality, all players will be the same. For DVD, music and analogue, then this a different story to which I'm not fully up on. I only play BDs through Hdmi and that's it.

the new pioneers lx58 and its big brother 88 seem to be very good in every respect and in my opinion are the true replacements for the lx 71 and 91, but are very expensive.

have you looked at oppo and panasonic?

The LX 58 looks really interesting for about 600€. But I don't know his analogue stage. The only interesting oppo is the BDP 95, but with 1250€ far too expensive. Is there a panasonic with a good analogue stage?

The Pioneer 58 has good analogue stage, it's a beast too weighing at near 10kg. Richer Sounds do it if you can pop in there.
