I am really new to all this guys and could do with some help. I am planning on buying daughter a 37 inch TV for her bedroom wall (LCD or Plasma??) Which one should I go for. I plan on attaching just ordinary aerial to it and want to conceal all wires in the wall. What other devices should I attach to it and how. Was thinking a PS3 for blu-ray and games console but would like to stream content from laptop/desktop PC for her as well but have no idea on what to buy or how to use it. Would really appreiciate some advice.

Wow, wish you were my Dad when I was 16! Anyway, I would definitely recommend plasma over LCD, probably the new Panny TH-37PX80. This has a PC input socket (VGA) which would allow you to connect up the laptop (unless the laptop has a DVI output in which case you can use a DVI to HDMI cable, though this is rare).

The Panasonic Plasma is definitely a better screen, though I would go for an LCD if you are planning to use it as a PC monitor, and as a games screen, as static images will burn plasmas. Try something like a Samsung 37R87/8 this has a very good digital tv tuner, a dedicated "games mode" for the PS3 and also a PC input. This can be easily found for under £600-ideal as it is not yout main TV. If you dont plan to use either the PS3 or PC on the TV a lot and the main use is off-air television broadcasts, you cannot get better than the Panasonic.

TH37PX80B can be found for around 619 if you look around on google or kelkoo

also dont worry about screen burn... it is only a possibility if you leave the TV on the same static image for about 4-5 hours every days for 2 weeks... or sometimes leaving it on for over 8-10 hours in one day...

also the panasonic has a pixel shuffling technology built-into the TV which will slightly adjusty the pixels (which cannot by seen) so that static images arent in the same place all the time and it still looks great :)

What size is the bedroom? How far away from the screen will she sit/lie??

Firstly, screen burn on plasmas hasn't been a factor for a while unless you play the same image for days / weeks at a time. The laptop / desktop screen saver would prevent screen burn if she accidently left it on anyway (that's what they're designed for!).

On hooking up your laptop / desktop, it basically depends what type of output connection you have on these. It will either be VGA or DVI (as shown in this picture):

If it's DVI, you can hook it up to one of the HDMI sockets using a DVI to HDMI cable. If it's VGA, you need to ensure the TV has an input for this (usually dubbed a PC input on the specs list) and then you'd hook this up with a standard VGA cable (same as use from your PC to your PC's normal screen).

Hope this helps!
