I read on another forum that Samsung are having some trouble with the production on the PS50C7000.

Specifically the Filter Bright technology being used on these screens, there have been delays apparently with production meaning that in order to meet demand Samsung have put into production a PS50C6900 model which is exactly the same as the 7000 just minus the Filter Bright screen. It is meant to be £100-150 less.

New supplies of the 7000 are not expected before July.

It seems the faulty processor rumour was just that and the problem was somewhat different, although this production delay could just be a ploy to quash the faulty processor rumours and maintain confidence in the brand? Who knows?

There are a few 7000's around but most of them were meant as display models which are now being sold to customers to try and fullfill pre-orders, so it is claimed.

heres my thoughts , assuming the sammy sets are working fine , no faults etc when they start to roll out , then i dont see how the lg should be better , 3d aside , samsung have always made better plasmas than lg , i think that will be the case this year too , and with little difference in prices , and the added bonus of 3d , its a no brainer , the samsung all day long for me ..

The new 5 series LG edged out the 5 series Samsung when i saw them working recently but not much in it, i haven't seen the PK990 in the flesh yet, however i need a tv for the World Cup so can't wait til July for the Samsung.

Also a handful of people have reported buzzing on the 2010 Samsung's although doesn't seem as bad as last year from what i have read to date, also the 3D has had some issues according to some early users.

I like the THX feature of the LG's and don't think the IR should be much of an issue if careful for the first hundred or so hours. IR has been reported on the Samsung too so each tv has good & bad points.

Lol it might be better now but after a year i don't want it looking worse than my 4yr 26" LCD for blacks!

I have seen what last years G10's look like now and there are hundreds of reports of worsening black levels. Nothing against Panasonic - infact my last tv (before it was stolen!) was a PX80 but wouldn't buy Panasonic until this black level issue is resolved.

cant say i blame you , my g10 doesnt look as good as new , but its still a great tv , what i find more worrying is panasonics reluctance to say anything about it , other than its normal , and that their tvs yeild excellent picture quality , thats not what i would have expected from them ..

i was going to start another thread on this issue , but then ill just be seen to be a troublemaker , and sensationalist , so i cant be bothered , i still think they make the best tvs out there , how long they stay that way is unknown , but their policy of silence/denial , leaves a bad taste ..

I have seen a Samsung 50B550 around a year old and the blacks were a lot blacker than the G10, the G10 just looked washed out grey.

In an ideal world i would go for the V20 or the VT20 if not too much more £'s than the V20, not too interested in 3D at this early stage although i was pleasantly surprised at the effect when i was in the Panasonic store last weekend.

The problem with Panasonic is that their insistance that the black level issue is 'normal' means that i won 't risk buying even with a 5yr guarantee as they would presumably refuse to fix something which ain't broken etc.

viewing tvs in stores can be misleading , cnet have measured the blacks on several aged panasonics from last year to still be better than last years samsung plasmas , and i have no reason to disbelieve them , after all , they were the only mainstream tech site to highlight the issue in the first place..

what you saw was probably more to do with the samsungs blacks appearing darker under bright lighting imo, possibly because of a different screen filter , than actually being darker full stop .. food for thought though..

well , for you i think is worth it - you deserv it

I can give you the full review but going to give you my first impressions - today i didnt had the chance to play with the him..

so this will be quick report ..

yesturday i spend 3 hours and was able to do a side by side ps50c7000 with the 55c8000 3d led (silver slick bezel - pretty )

Out of the box :

It was noticable , even when off the led had a blacker pannel .

Turning the 2 on for the first time , ( signal tv was very weak ) but then the plasma takes the lead (taking care of tv signal , handling better then the led )

As to motion - this time i have to agree that led technology is getting better as i saw no evident problems in that mather..

Hd Image (still out of the box)

Plasma showed the black as black as car color

Led showed a grey color ( altoough i able to change settings and led showed good black after )

Of course led is able to supress the surrounf lightining better - for ny tastes i have to change settings to softer image - then ok ..

BluRay Image - Plasma - excelent PQ

LED - Very Good PQ - i dont say excelent cause i saw the soap opera effect , hate it , but i didnt say anything - i was buying plasma and the other man next to me was buying the lead - so didnt said anything about it ..(altough could be correct / turned off !? i really dont know ..)

As for 3d - (still out of the box ) the depth and perception is really there , altough without uprgrade firmware (that supost to improve 3d view) i have to do more testing - my first sense is that it was good 3d but without change settings i somehow did not fell 100% confortable - so i have to upgrade firmware first , test settings to have a better report .. this morning i did a 2 to 3d conversion an with some games channels it works surprisily good - as i read before ...

It needs more break in so i can be more precise ...

The remote is very stilish , easy to operate , quick channel change..

What can i say more ..

i bought the slim wall mount but havent donne it yet cause im really enjoying it on the stand and not sure if im going to hang it ..

Its a very pretty and slim set ,

The buzz thing .. if it is there i can't hear it ..

The sound , i read the sound is not very good - imo i thing is good enough - i was really not excpecting much of the sound from what ive read and from a so slimm set and cause have home theatre that wasnt really an issue but is good enough ..

Thats it for now and only writing expecially cause i respect and apreciate your opinions and the way you good your presence and value here - (Max and Big Boss ) ( My pshysician has told me to open my heart and talk about my fellings :) )

Hope you like it ..

I think i be back tomorrow with some more

your welcome ..

it's going to be a busy week (work) so im not having much time.. but when have a few moments i keep on reporting .

Just a reminder - tu acess 3d content from cable service/other devices you need to have a 1.4 compatible hdmi cable .

i Just know this will be trivial for some but it is just a reminder , yesturday i was so tired that i wasnt getting wy couldnt view 3d channel from my cable box.. then i remember the hdmi cable was not compatible. i bought one today so will try to see it later on..

Thanks CM7, really appreciate the review, i have just purchased the 46C8000 so an interesting comparison. I have always been a plasma buyer in the past but circumstances change and now have a very bright living room with a large window opposite the TV . My current Samsung Plasma is almost unwatchable in the day.Keep us informed..

I ve started break in last night so my tv was working like 9 hours and im cheking temperature and did not notice any significant change , dont fell hot touching hand ..

Buzzing Issues - after some hours of use , when its on and you are totally in silent mode you can notice a slighlty and very little hum.. but not strong or high enough to boder .. as i said you can only hear it if you have good hears and room is in silent mode , at low volumes (tv) you cannot hear it ... so if it stays that way its great - its like my old lg , normal .

I ll kepp updating ...

At this time i prefer not to comment about 3d performance.. without the upgrade ( its only available to us models , dont get it why the europeans have to wait for new firmware with such so important improvments PQ and 3d Optimizer and settings )..

As for the few 3d i have seen without the upgrade and without having much time - i really dont fell 100 % confortable , the deph is there and its good but need to have some calibration settings to get more confortable - sorry i can't explain any better ..

As for the rest 99,9 % satisfaid and would recomend it !

0,1% not satisfaid because it doesnt take expressos :)
