After an incident with my 'puter the whole thing had to be reinstalled and as I had no back up (yes I know) I've started ripping my collection again. I have a TB HDD arriving tomorrow - it's a Buffallo so is used to the snow- so decided to use WAV lossless on WM11.

Problem is that none of the details are being recorded and I'll have to add this later unless.........?

I know I've done something wrong so any help would be gratefully received.

Can't find 'auto info' though JD.

Get to the Library and it has a number of options and none of them help

Actually it says 'retrieve additional information from the internet'

But I turned that off and it still finds album details, so maybe it's not that.......

On investigation, it seems to do it automatically without setting anything. You are a) connected to the internet and b) not ripping an obscure album I take it?

Fiddled with all those options and 'Nada' unless it doesn't do it retrospectively. Hold on.

Right clicked on the "Unknown Albumn" and then clicked the 'Update Info' and for some reason it decided to do it.

I am none the wiser but at least it worked....whatever it is. So thanks JD for whatever you did.

Shame there's no consulting fee here...you could work from home ans be the Homemaker as well then

Had to keep prompting it to update for the first 9 albumns but now is doing it automatically....go figure

Update: I'm still ripping but have moved onto the OHs collection. I have been reassesing the need for WAV and am currently doing Jamelia and Culture Club at 320kbs......is that still too much ?

What do Soft Cell, Erasure, The Pet SBs, Pink and Jimmy Sommerville deserve ?

Right. Rip them all to WMA lossless (saving 40-odd% over WAV). You can then convert back or to another lossless (or lossy) format if required. You'll regret it at some point in the future if you don't........

The OH can't tell the diff between FM &DAB radio and happily listens to music on the PS3 through Mission M Cubes.... so i think I'll leave the 320kps on hers but will take your point on my stuff.

I couldn't rip XRay Spex on anything but top quality......wouldn't want to miss how bad the sax is would I ?

Cheers JD.

Are you keeping the DAC Mafia based Avatar or reverting back soon ?
