Hi,

I'm looking to replace a little Yamaha centre with something more appropriate (vocals etc feel really thin/weak). The front speakers are Mission 771s (bookshelf, mid-sized, quite strong mid/bass and fairly lively). The rears at this point will be the Yamaha satellites and the sub also the Yamaha as I can't be bothered to replace the whole kit and kaboodle for now (we might move house soon). Electronics are Denon's AVR-2310.

I want a centre that's got a nice, clear response across the range, will be happy alongside those Mission fronts for movies, TV, etc and isn't huge - say, max 350mm wide and about 150mm high, depth's less an issue. Budget is GBP150 max and ideally it wants to be in stock at Richer or Superfi. If it's something that will integrate well with replacing the rest of the system later on, so much the better.

Does anyone have any good suggestions? Would it be well worth the extra to replace the fronts as well - maybe Wharfedale 10.1 + 10.CC, Dali Lektor or MS Aviano?

Thanks!

Jeff

By far the best plan would be to get a matching Mission centre speaker - if you don't, you risk your new and different centre standing out like a sore thumb. There are Mission centre speakers from the same series as your fronts available second-hand on ebay at bargain prices.
