Replace a Croft Phono Integrated with the Sugden Mystro?

Hi everyone,

I need some of your opinions please. As most of you know this Hi-Fi Biz is a hobby and it can be a bit boring to keep somehting for too long. So many things to try out with different sound qualities. Life is short.

I have had a Croft Phono Integrated now for about a year and I want to try somthing new. Anybody hear the Sugden Mystro integrated? Would it be crazy to replace my Croft for one?

I want to change my speakers as well. Currently using Proac Signature 2000's. Time for replacement. I was thinking of getting the Spendor A3's.

I have a hunch that the Sugden Mystro and Spendor A3's might prove to be a good match. Can't demo them together though. Sugden is very scarce here in the States. Will have to buy one from Canada.

What do you all think??

Thanks!

P.S, How's the phono stage in the Mystro? Good enough? Any record player recommandations to use with it? Time to put my B&O out to pasture.

Thanks for the reply Mac.

I like the idea of the A21. I guess it's not that much more expensive but I do like the added power of the Mystro to drive other speakers.

My Proacs are getting a bit old now and I am wanting to move on to something different.

Anyways, what you said is somthing to think about and keep in mind.

Would the Class A Sugden A21 be a clearer and brighter sound than the Mystro has?

I can't comment on the difference as I haven't heard the Croft, but the Sugden Mystro is a lovely amp. Very fluid sounding and, as Macspur says, vocals come across beautifully. However, I would caution against changing for the sake of changing. If you enjoy your music through the Croft you may be as well to leave well alone.

I am on the look out for a sugden amp. I've a pair of proac response d1. I'm looking at an ex demo sugden mystro. Should I buy or hold tight until a second hand A21 comes on to the market?

I'd take any advice going on an amp. Budget of about 1000. I'd like an integrated phono stage unless something special turns up.

Using Marantz CD6004 and project essential II but I hope to upgrade them at a later stage.
