I'm certain this will end up being something really simple. Unfortunately I'm not clever enough with PCs to see what is Really hope you get this sorted and let us know what the solution was when you do
Yeah; when I switch on the DAC, it automatically becomes the default and tries to play through the DAC. When I turn it off, the AMP takes over again. With the DAC switched on, have you checked the Windows sound applet, to make sure your DAC is the default output? Whether I have my Pathos amp switched on or, the Chord Mojo, they are the default output for Windows sound, that being everything except the output from Foobar2000, for which the Pathos is the one set.
You could try uninstalling Foobar2000 and make a fresh install, sometimes this works.Yeah; when I switch on the DAC, it automatically becomes the default and tries to play through the DAC. When I turn it off, the AMP takes over again.
Decent call Jason, but none of us can understand why Yoran is having these issues. He doesn't actually need a media player to get his DAC to work, both Sam and I can use our DACs without a media player acting as an intermediary. This has me dumbfounded, but I must admit it doesn't take much cos I'm not that clever to start withYou could try uninstalling Foobar2000 and make a fresh install, sometimes this works.
Or disband it all together and try JRiver, it's free for 30 days.
If it works for you, you can decide if you want to keep it.
I think it costs £50 to purchase the licence, its less bothersome and worth the extra costs.

Doug don't knock yourself, you're brilliant on the forums. 😃👍Decent call Jason, but none of us can understand why Yoran is having these issues. Good luck Yoran. If I think of anything, I'll get back to you. Keep us posted on your progress.Haha, thanks for the replies everyone. I'll try J River today, although I don't think it'll make that much of a difference, seeing as I don't want to keep running an audio player to be able to get sound through the DAC.
@nads the amp and dac are connected with the topping tcx1 cables, both power cables are plugged in, and the dac connects to my motherboard (msi z590 pro wifi) via usb a to usb c. The amp is also connected via rca, because that's the only way to get sound through it without the dac working. I've selected all outputs on the amp and dac (front and back). Here's some photos (while taking the photo, I was playing a youtube music video, to show output working on the dac).
Maybe the motherboard settings in the bios don't allow me to deliver sound through a usb port in the motherboard. I'll check that aswell today. Besides that, I've reached out to some local stores and will reach out to Topping support one way or another, ask some people online with the same stack how they're running it. Getting closer each day!

That's a good idea. Disabling in the BIOS, is the only way to make 100% sure Windows won't try to use onboard sound devices.I have an idea.
If you don't mind playing with the BIOS.
If there is an option to deactivate the Realtek chipsets in the BIOS turn it off.
If this option is not available under the BIOS setting, you can try uninstalling the Realtek drivers.
Hopefully this will solve your problem.
I don't know what is wrong with the OP's setup but, playing music via an external DAC, is usually easy to setup in Windows. I've done it with 4 different devices and, no problems. I have 2 connected now.Buy a Mac LOL
