With the DAC switched on, have you checked the Windows sound applet, to make sure your DAC is the default output? Whether I have my Pathos amp switched on or, the Chord Mojo, they are the default output for Windows sound, that being everything except the output from Foobar2000, for which the Pathos is the one set.

Yeah; when I switch on the DAC, it automatically becomes the default and tries to play through the DAC. When I turn it off, the AMP takes over again.

You could try uninstalling Foobar2000 and make a fresh install, sometimes this works.
Or disband it all together and try JRiver, it's free for 30 days.

If it works for you, you can decide if you want to keep it.
I think it costs £50 to purchase the licence, its less bothersome and worth the extra costs.

Decent call Jason, but none of us can understand why Yoran is having these issues. He doesn't actually need a media player to get his DAC to work, both Sam and I can use our DACs without a media player acting as an intermediary. This has me dumbfounded, but I must admit it doesn't take much cos I'm not that clever to start with :)

Doug don't knock yourself, you're brilliant on the forums. 😃👍
I have my Eversolo connected to my home PC and work laptop.
Our IT Admin has restricted us from installing any software on their Council laptops.
Despite that the generic Windows drivers still recognizes the Eversolo DAC, so I'm able to bypass the laptops Realtek output audio chip, and get quality sound without using media player. I think it's because my DAC uses XMOS and almost every PC has that built into Windows or Mac.
I have all the bells and whistles on my desktop.
I suppose it all depends on what you need it for.
I have DSD files and I need special media player to play high res up to 512.
When I'm not using PC, I have my digital transport connected to ES s via second USB input.
I feel Yoran's frustration but I feel he isn't too far away from getting it resolved.
