Remotes with Yamaha AV amps?

Hi

One thing I liked about the Sony STR DA 2400 I've sent back was that the remote could also control the Sony BD player and, to an extent, my Pana plasma.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to do this should I opt for a Yamaha as a replacement?

My Yamaha remote controls my Panasonic plasma and Blu Ray player, the manual comes with various codes for other devices. If you don't find a code that works, all the Yamaha remotes i've had, have the learning function.

Virtually all AV amps have learning remotes nowadays, so even if it can't control a unit straight out of the box, it can learn to.

My yamaha remote had a load of codes but the way it worked was unusual - you had to set it with a relatively inaccessible dial at the top to tell it what you were controlling (CD Player/Amp/DVD etc) - wasn't very helpful. The fact that it also wouldn't control my STB (since at the time it was a non-IR telewest one) made it unusable for my particular circumstances.
