Sorry to bore you all about it but Im chuffed to bits!

The Brio R & RS1 doing a mighty fine job!

Sitting with a RP3, The Police Ghost in the machine. CD players are seriously in need of a fix to reach the LP presentation of music.

hi Steve

let me ask you this:

you had the RP1 and made a upgrade to the RP3 and it was a major step up!

Is the step up from the RP3 to the RP6 in the same league as the above?

Best REGArds!!!

and CONGRETS on the new toy...

This is in a different league - I am truly blown away by it now!

What has surprised me most that my Rega amp/speakers are really showing what they can do now!

I know Roxy Music album Avalon really well, but the RP6 has revealed lots more detail that I havent heard before it truly is excellent!

Always interested to hear about good great gear!

Out of interest, did you take a listen to the Clearer Audio Concept TT?

In a word no!

I knew the RP6 would not dissapoint! I have only ever had eyes for the Rega deck.

Anyway it was too much of a bargain at £749 with an Exact cartridge, apparently they are 2nds from Rega (minor imperfections to the plinth - well for the life of me I cant see anything wrong - it sounds mint so well happy)

i feel that already with my RP3/Goldring 1012gx Dyns X12 combo, i've eard lots of spekers in the end of the Brio R and none like the x12.

I'm going to demo the RP6 with the Dynavector 10X5.

And i've my mind set at the New Elicit as well, let us se the price tag first, something arround 2000€ for sure...

Well at that price guess you can't go wrong!

Where did you manage to source it from at that price if you don't mind me asking?

Seems Rega have unleashed a load of RP6s to dealers!

Moorgate Acoustics, Sheffield £749 with Exact - Picked it up today, while I was there had a quick listen to some Totem Dreamcatchers........lovely speaker......however when I put some bassy stuff on like Massive Attack they really lost it more than my RS1, then listened to some RS3.....crikey they really are nice, as soon as some 2nds come up Im pulling the trigger on them (2nds=again slightly cosmetic imperfections)

Hi Steve

I love the Kefs! I tried out all sorts of speakers and the Kefs were the ones that gave me the broad soundstage, bass punch and clairity I love. I would describe them as sounding big if you get my meaning and they go surprisingly low for their size.

That said, I find them a little too bass heavy close to a rear wall but after they are set up they sound sublime and look great in gloss black!

Glad to hear someone happy with their investment!

I'm considering upgrading the Elys2 on my RP3.

Clearly, the Exact is the logical choice but, apart from the OP here, it seems hard to find anyone who recommends it, or any Rega cart for that matter.

Would the Ortofon 2M Bronze be a good option? Or is the Rega 'synergy' the way to go?

Any advice appreciated.

One thing I forgot to mention is the clarity with vocals and difficult to reproduce instruments like guitars but especially piano which can sound distorted and shrill on lesser speakers. I don't tend to listen to a lot of piano based music tbh but there is a great band called the Bad Plus who have an album called Give which is a great demo disc

Get the TT PSU upgrade instead!

I thought the Elys 2 is great on an RP3!

Listening to Kate Bush - Army Dreamers........ sounds sublime!

I've been reading Steve's journey up to his RP6 with interest over the last few weeks, thanks for the insight and all. ( I reckon a RP8 before Xmas ;) )

Anyways, how much do you reckon the improvement is down to the actual change of deck as opposed to the upgrade in cartridge?

Trying different cartridges is virtually impossible without actually buying one, and I'm in a quandry as to either upgrading my Bias cart or going for a package similar to Steve.

The cartrdige is just one part of the overall improvemnt! The TT PSU, P:latter and Cart all have influence!

Im no expert on TTs, but over on VinylEngine there are some real enthusiasts making subtle changes with sub platters/belts etc.

Even heard that the Rega White Belt has improved the RP6 - for £20 its not a lot of money!

I think only you can decide on which path you take, but for me the RP6/Exact package for £749 was too good to miss and the better option than upgrading the RP3 - also I have the nicer Gloss plinth without the on/off switch.
