Sure the Gyrodec is better but...

Then you have the practical issues: The Gyro doesn't come with a lid. I've seen them on Fleebay for £200-£300 for Mitchell Gyrodecs.

Aye and I paid 73 quid for mine , so no need to preach to me regarding a Gyro , been there done that.

Steve said, with a p/ex for his old RP3, it'll work out at £648 inclusive.

I took it as £648 plus his RP3, hence the s/h Gyro route.

If you had a £500 amp would you invest in a £1800 turntable?

Indeed I would.

Not preaching, just what I've seen on auction sites. If you can get hold of a good quality Gyro SE, with a cartridge and lid, buzz me immediately.

I'd be very, very reluctant to spend anywhere near the normal Gyro price, even with a high quality £1280 amp. Me thinks major overkill.

Either what you say is fantasy or a one-off.

Hi Steve!

I've been following this thread quite closely has the RP6 is as well in my sight for a future upgrade!

But in your case i think that before the RP6 or the TTPSU or a new cartridg (that i think it should be in second place in your upgrad list) that you should think in upgrading your speakers set, as it has been said before.

Look at the RS3 or at Neat or at Totam ( take a special look at the Rainmakers) and just in case, if you have the recources to pull a demo the Dynaudios... ;)

A new TTPSU is not going to make that sonic difference that you are after! And when you buy the RP6 it will be included in the price.

A new cartridge, yes it will make a sonic difference, and can put it in your future RP6.

But a new set of speakers is the way to go, there is so much that you can squeeze from your actual RP3 with a new speakers set....

I go often to my rega dealer and he has connected to a Rega Brio R a RP3 and a RP6, the RP3 with a Goldring 1012gx like my own, and the RP6 with a Dynavector 10X5, the RP6 is in fact a superior TT but i dont know if that superiority is just the TT, i would like to know the role of the Dynavector cartridge...?! :?

It is your money, but look first at speakers, second cartridge, and for last a new RP6.... Is the way i se it.

And how about the Aria... I'll go to my Rega dealer this weekend to have a demo, he has just received the Aria today...

best REGArds

yeah i know what your saying - speakers - Petites, Dreamcatchers, R100s my local dealer stocks them all and he has all the Rega gear too!

I think something from the Totem or Neat stable will pay dividends!

Which speaker material does Neat and Totem use? I´ve always preferred ´natural fibre´i.e. paper cones (which, incidentially, Rega is using for their speakers).

I have a set up manual which you can have in exchange for a kit kat .

Regarding the cover, peeps must have a slate missing and tis raining in if they shell out 2-300 quid for one.

I got mine made , still have the invoice. So nah PP not fantasy ;).

Ha ha , yip I loved following that thread. A certain dealer, who I know quite well, got his holiday brochure out when he saw all the free advertising for that load of foo.

Well I started with the RP3/Elys2. Because my listening room is small I bought small speakers, KEF XQ 10. My amp is a Rega Brio 3. But Bass was missing. Mids and Highs were ok. Next investion was Rega Fono MM. Better! But I was not happy so I saved some money to get hold of Rega's TTPSU-R. Yep, I never thought that it would change the sound for good the way it does, a must be for the RP3, if you ask me. After some time I changed my speakers. Now I am the proud owner of a pair of SITARA by Audio Physic, 2 and a half way speakers especially designed for small rooms. The sound is excellent. Not one thought to change my gear, I'm happy at last. This is the sound I was after. I enjoy listening and get myself new Vinyl, flip through my old records, everything just fine. I think speakers have the biggest impact on sound and the RP3 is a good choice to start with the way I did.
