I am looking to upgrade my Project 2 with Ortofon 2M Blue. It has been a terrific servant for two decades but it has developed a couple of issues and I'm thinking it might be better to invest in a new turntable than buy parts/pay for repairs.
I have been doing some research but wondered if anyone might have some advice - do stay with Project and go for maybe something like the X1 (£699) or X2 (£999) or should I head over to Rega and look at the Planar 3 (£649) or Planar 6 (£1049 w/o cartride)? Has anyone got experience of the X1 and X2, what are the main differences besides the physical? How much of a step away is Rega from Pro-Ject? Would my Ortofon 2M Blue work on it or is the Elys 2 a better solution for Rega? How does the Ortofon 2M Silver compare to the Blue?
My kit is all pretty much from the same era so I am pretty sure the tech has all been updated but I'd rather keep my amp, which has an inbuilt dedicated phono stage.
