Reasurance required please

Just been out and purchased the Monitor Audio BX5 av system with the Silver RSW12 Subwoofer that they had cheap on demo in place of the BXW10, with the Yamaha RXV667, sounded great in the demo , had a really difficult decision as to wether to spend another £850 and get the RX6 av12 with the Yamaha RXV1067 but my lounge is only 16 feet by 12 feet and it just seemed like overkill.

Of course now i am home i am thinking i should have bit the bullet and spent the extra money on the better setup.

Should i spend a little more on a better amp or will i just be paying more for extra HDMI sockets and streaming that i will never use?

Opinions gratefully received, i can still change the order for a short period of time!!

The Yammy 1067 + RX AV would have sounded much better although the MA's would benefit from a better amp still, maybe the 2067.

A better amp isn't only about extra HDMI ports. There is a sonic improvement in performance as you go up the range. You need to demo to appreciate the difference.

The kit you have purchased is very good. Your lounge is of a decent size and should happily accommodate the larger RX6 AV12. Only you can decide if it's worth going for it, as £850 is a lot of money. It's easy to get carried away and go beyond your set budget.

Thanks guys, i have cancelled the BX5 av ....

and purchasers the RX6 AV12 , it is to good a deal to turn down,20 % off. was only a £400 price premium over the BX5

I will run it for 6 months or so with the Yamaha RXV667 then upgrade the amp to something that will really show it off.

Cannot wait to get it now!!

having the rx sub alone was worth paying £400 more for, getting the full rx package for that much extra is a steal
