It sells magazines?! WHIFI isn't a crusading publication acting on behalf of hifi enthusiasts. It's a commercial organisation interested in making money. There is controversy about cables so that is good press.

The second sentence is self-evidently true. Why else do you think they make magazines? I didn't say the things you say in the first sentence.

I actually rather like reading hi-fi reviews and articles about this hobby. I think it is fun.

I just remind myself that I am reading the views of a magazine jounalist who would, in all probability, rather be working on What Car magazine.

It's a fact. A line level interconnect is a non-critical application. Any old cable will do the job as well as any other. If it works, it works.

If we replaced a audiophoole IC, say Kimber cable with some wire coat hanger, what would you imagine the difference in SQ to be? If there wasn't a difference would you still disagree with Trev?

No, it was probably half a db louder and sounded better because of it. It wouldn't have sounded any louder, just better.
