All albums were releashed in 1971. Accept ZZ Top was in 1970.

Having checked Roon it actually says 1970 as does All Music (however this is for the digital download). Wikipedia entry states 16 January 1971. Discogs doesn't have that LP listed as 1970 and the only ones are from 1971.

Where is this info from, please?

I was looking on Allmusic. I think there was different release dates, UK 1971 maybe 1970 in the US?

But they did release a box set called "The Complete Studio Albums 1970-1990"[/b]

Digital download in 1970, I don't think so.[/b]

Jimi's album was released posthumously. I guess so was Janis Joplin's "Pearl".

It was a fantastic year in musical history. Are we ever going to witness another one like this? I listen to a lot of new releases but looking above 30 albums mentioned in one year. Not just that, but for quite a few probably their best work ever.

Any favourites from the above albums? For me Joni Mitchell "Blue" would come out top, but putting together a top 5 would probably be impossible.

Not a huge Joni fan and Blue is a very short album. Out of those, top 5: Who's Next, Led Zepp IV, LA Woman, Aqualung and Sticky Fingers. Tapestry at the time was excellent to.

That's a great top 5, I wouldn't ask you to put them in order. "Blue" usually makes my eyes well up, I can't help it. That album has a special place in my heart.

And then I would also strongly consider Black Sabbath, David Bowie and Janis Joplin. That's 9 to fit in 5 places for me.

Stevie Wonder is ok but not in my top 10. Marvin Gaye would probably be next. Meddle, Blue and Tapestry. May have to do some more research possibles: Allman Bros at Fillmore East, Fragile by Yes, In the Land of Grey and Pink by Caravan, A Tribute to Jack Johnson - Miles Davis and Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison.
