Progressive Scan on Pioneer plasma

I have a DVD player connected via component to my Pioneer PDP4280XD. The DVD player is set to output a progressive signal but the plasma input says its got a 576i signal. I can't see anything anywhere to set the input to be able to accept a progressive scan input like you might to set your scart for RGB etc. Anyone help?

The TV accepts whatever signal you send it automatically. Sounds like the DVD is sending 576i??

Is this a HDMI connection? SCART is 576i only.

The DVD output is component. I have to press a progressive scan button to output a progressive picture which I have done so it looks like it is back to the manual!

indeed it sounds like your DVD settings need looking at.
