Product Advice - MP3 through Hi Fi

I'm looking for some suggestions on a product please. Basically I'm looking for a media player with a HDD to load up my collection of MP3s onto, and connect to my Hi Fi. I've looked around and most products seem to be aimed at the user looking to connect to their TV / play video, i.e. the navigation screen is displayed on your TV etc.

So what I want is very simple (I think anyway), basically a device with an HDD to load up my MP3s from a PC, I then take it and connect it to my Hi fi and it has a display screen inbuilt to navigate through the music files.

How hard can it be!!

Yep, I want to avoid having the PC on, and I dont really want to use an ipod, surely there are dedicated devices for this, as I say, it dont need to be mobile, just once the MP3s are loaded up, it sits there next to my hi fi and thats it.

iPod does sound like it fits the bill nicely though.

Any reason why you don't want an iPod??
