First of all, the PM6005 has a great sound if you ask me! The digital inputs are a very welcoming feature, although there could be 1 or 2 more. Everything What HiFi already reviewed about this amp is true.
BUT...
Only problem we have is that approx. 5 out of 300 cd's have blanc outs (audio cutting out) when using optical or digital coax.
Technical support of Denon& Marantz blame the cd's so far.
But, the dealer, technical support of the dealer and some 'audio-wizards' think different. And so do I!
Thing is that the CD6005 (with exactly the same DAC as the PM6005) shows no problems with the cd's when converting to analogue by itself.
I went back to the dealer and we tried the cd's on a PM6005 in the shop....it gave the same problem! Also the NAD 7050 and Rotel A12 (both with a own DAC) don't show any problems.
Some say it's the DAC of the PM6005 and/or it's powersupply, others think it's the module just before the DAC and a few suggests it has something to do with the re-translation (from SPDIF back to I²S) in the Clock just around the DAC of the PM6005.
Marantz is still working on the subject. As soon as they gave me a sollution, of course, I'll post it.
If so, I'll definitely adjust my ratings on this product.
Anyone familiar with this problem?
