Plasma brightness levels

I read some time ago that plasma TV's lose their brightness considerably over relatively short periods of time (I think 2 years was quoted). Is this still true? Could anybody quantify the drops involved?

No, it's complete cobblers.

Without any objective measurements having been taken then and now, I have noticed no reduction in brightness from their conditions at purchase of my four-year-old 42" Pioneer and of my three-year-old 50" Pioneer.

My 3 year old Kuro shows no loss of brightness.
