Hi people,

I was going to purchase a Pioneer LX52 blu ray player, but apparantly the picture isnt as good as the previous model LX71 (which was slighty larger and more expensive). Around this price point what brands would have the best picture quality between Pionner, Marantz, Denon and Sony? Also do any of these brands have multi region for blu ray discs?

Cheers : )

Yes the pioneer bdp-lx71 is better than the 52 in my opinion for picture, sound and build.

As for best picture with other brands, you will probaly have to see for yourself because everybody's opinion is differnent.

As for multi region for blu ray discs I don't think any blu ray player in the UK does it.

Who said the 71 was better?

Well, as always, many ways to look at this.

Pioneer are a company geared to visual presentation and I think this gives their Blu-ray players the performance edge visually. I bought a Pioneer LX-91 Blu-ray (which I'm very happy with), but I would not buy a CD player, or AV Receiver (sound is too bright) from them.

Cheers,
