I'm looking to buy one of these sets. Curry's are selling the Panny for £569, the Toshiba for £695. Both have plus and negatives. I have Sky HD and XBox 360 so will use HD regularly. I would have gone for the Panny had the Toshiba been more expensive but the price gap is so close its making my decision difficult. Your views would be very welcome... How can this choice be so hard!

Can What HiFi comment perhaps?

The price I quoted is only available at one of the Derby stores. They have one of the few Empire Direct retail outlets 2 doors down. Therefore they compete on price against ED and seperatly to other Curry's and internet.

Im not really a LCD fan but the Toshiba is such a sexy looking TV. Tough choice - theyre both very good. I would make a decision based on what you value more over black level and brightness. Obviously, the Toshiba is brighter, and the screen is not as reflective, but if you watch in a darkened room then this doesnt come into it so go for the Panny or another plasma. Also if you sit very near to the TV, the Toshiba's higher resolution is an advantage.

The Panny will win on blacks, real contrast ratio, more natural colours and motion handling. SD PQ is better too.

The Toshiba looks better, may have a better sound. Full HD is not a deal maker at these sizes.

PX80 is £569 from John Lewis with free 5yr guarantee. A bargain at these prices.
