The curve on OLED really isn't that bad though. I hear it's worse on LEDs though with limited viewing angles but on OLED it's quite nice really. *smile*

Every curved screen I've looked at to date has appeared horribly distorted and unnatural. It's just another gimmick designed to entice the gullible into dumping a perfectly good TV and buying 'the lastest thing'.

I am looking forward to the day i get a curved pc monitor. *biggrin*

Behold Simon, I bring tidings of great joy, that day is TODAY! Or rather, that day was Thursday 3rd September, when, on my way through to the television section at John Lewis at Oxford Street in London, I passed through the PC monitor section, and I saw a few that were curved! I snorted with derision, so I didn't make a note of their makes or model numbers, but they certainly were there.

I myself would be happy if there were the choice available to mean that my next television didn't HAVE to be curved. Perhaps even LG agree, of the four new OLED televisions that they are introduing at http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/lg-readies-up-four-new-4k-oled-tvs-three-with-hdr-support. IFA 2015 three are flat!

If I was to spend £8000 on a TV (which I never will), whether it'll fit the TV stand won't be a consideration. I would buy a new stand!!
Can you recommend one then? Remember it has to accommodate my centre speaker - B&W FPM5 series. The price will have to drop of the TV otherwise it won't sell. I did read somewhere saying £7300, and if it drops by half price, it could be well worth it.

Well, from the directly-front-on sketch given in the link that simonlewis very kindly gave, it's obvious that the actual stand width is about three-quarters or four-fifths of the television's panel width. I'm sure that you can do the arithmetic. No need for anyone at What Hi-Fi to measure it, I suspect they will be rather too busy.

If you were serious about getting this television and it turned out that your Optimum AV300 stand wasn't quite wide enough, there's nothing to stop you going to B and Q or Texas Homecare or Wickes and getting a double thickness of MDF cut to the size you would need (maybe allowing an extra five centimetres to the width dimension) and then plading the double thickness of wood on top of your Optimum stand.

There are plenty of manufacturers offering custom made furniture (Chunky Monkey, Stump furniture, Hi Fi Racks).

Also check this one. Accommodates much larger TVs and has a dedicated space for centre speaker.

Mmm, this costs £1,499! Whereas two custom-made planks of wood from B and Q etc won't be more than about £60 at most ....
HiFi racks costs about a £1000 too because I did once look into them.

Cheers for the suggestions. I think I will leave it up to fate though.

Do you reckon it will be safe to overlap it a bit of needs be? That's what I am currently doing.

If I was to buy this TV I'd bolt it straight to the wall, but it would have to be a flat TV. 8 grand or even 4 grand is too much for a TV, I'd invest in a projector and I would keep my plasma for general TV viewing.

i bet gel has a coat hook arrangement for all his headphones :)
