Just received my three free Blu-Ray's for my Panasonic BDT500, although when playing The Rise of the Planet of The Apes last night it hung up just after chapter 20 (when the Ape Caesar escapes for the first time). Managed to skip a chapter and rewind to a point where I could watch, although missed a bit but could work out what had happened. Had another glitch further on after another couple of chapters. Ejected and cleaned dvd, but same issue.

Went onto Panasonic and found the latest update (updated to 1.31 a couple of weeks back) to 1.39 - it did list 'blu-ray playability' as one of the two benefits, but after the upgrade I still have the same issue with this same blu-ray dvd.

Anyone else have any problems playing this blu-ray, especially those who have received it free and are also playing it on their BDT500 (Oldboy?)?

Paul.

Paul,

To be honest i've not watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes yet so can't comment, i will skip to the chapter you are having issues with today and report back with how my BDT500 behaves. Hopefully it's just a disc issue with your copy and if it does turn out to be that then just contact Panasonic and return it, if i'm affected i will be doing just that.

To be continued....

Oldboy,

Thanks.

There are no visible marks on the disk, and no other issues so far with blu-ray's.

Paul,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but i had a busy weekend, last night i went through the Rise of the Planet of the Apes disc from chapter 20 through to chapter 21 and had no issues atall like you describe so all i can assume is that you have a faulty disc i'm afraid.

I would give Panasonic a call or email and report the issue with the disc as i'm sure they will send out a replacement to you, i presume the other discs you received are all ok and have no issue like this?

Sorry mate you just seem to be unlucky in this instance
