WHF: when will the Onkyo HTX-22 HD be tested?

I'm really looking forward, as i have read some reviews from users on another site. It looked that the folks over there where quite happy with it.

Or has anyone else some more info about this system?

It's strutting its stuff in one of our test rooms as we speak - i'll try and see if I can make it an online exclusive. Otherwise it'll be in the issue out 18th September.

I decided to bite the bullet and picked up one of these one the other day.
I went along to SuperFi and got a demonstration of it and was very impressed.
I'm new to the Home Cinema stuff so what impresses me might not impress some
of you "old timers"

I decided to give the 2.1 system a try to see what it was like before spalshing out extra cash on the 5.1 upgrade.
As I say I am impressed with it as it is but feel that the extra immersion that the full surround
will give will be even better so I've now got those on order.

It came supplied with an hdmi lead and an optical lead and all the speaker cable so it's pretty much ready to go.
The manual looks a bit daunting for a newbie like me but I found it quite logical and got it up and running in no time.
It may need a bit of tweaking to get the best sound from all inputs yet but watching Cars
on Blu Ray ( Panny BD30 ) was great.

For the money I think it great.
I just hope now WHF don't give it a bad review. :)

Sounds Good! Keep us informed if you have more news!

So you think this is the best combination for you (the Onkyo and a Panny BR) instead of seperate things (receiver, BR, etc)?

Maybe a strange question, but do you also listen to the radio via the Onkyo (and what is your radio source?)?

I must think it's the best combination for me...that's why I went for it :)
I just thought it seemed to offer what I wanted at the right price.

Sorry I don't listen to radio at all.
There is a tuner input option however.

One other thing while I was in SuperFi having the demo they had it connected to a
Sony Blu Ray player ( dunno which model ) and couldn't get any sound via hdmi
..........swopped over to a BD30 and it was fine.
If you have a Sony BluRay palyer it may be worth trying it first before you splash the cash

I finally got the 5.1 speaker upgrade and I'm really glad I went for it
as it really is so much better.
A worthwhile upgrade for 100 quid.
I'm well chuffed with the system now.

You might like to know there does appear to be a
buzzing problem with some of the early versions of this unit.
Mine was when connecting a Panny BD30 to it but I gather others also
had problems with PS3.
The problem occurs when you use the Audyssey equalisation there is quite
a prominent buzzing ssound ........switch off the equalisation and it stops
However the sound is so much more vibarant with Audyssey selected
so if you do have this problem you are gonna want to get it cured.

Onkyo are aware of this issue and it's a simple fix if you do have a problem.

I think it's a great little unit for the money

Been following this for a while and im getting tired of waiting.

Spoke face to face to some of the What hifi guys at the Stuff Live show and they said it would be in the last issue. which it wasnt so must be planned for the next issue.

Although it hasnt been mentioned i think the wait might be to do with the buzzing problem. Some problem with HDMI passed audio i think.

Edit:

Sorry the Buzzing has been mentioned. My Bad
