Onkyo 606 and Sky HD

Hi,

I have purchased the Onkyo 606 and am planning to order Sky HD. I just thought that as the amp only upscales to 1080i and not 1080p, how good would sky pic be?

This is what I found on the Onkyo site for the 606.

-HDMI 1.3a* Audio and Video Processing (1080p; 4 Inputs and 1 Output)
-HDMI Video Upscaling (to 1080i) from Component-Video, S-Video and Composite Video Inputs.

Is it worth giving it back and going for an 875 for example?

Hi Kevin

How big is your screen/TV please? If relatively small, then perhaps Sky's standard 720p HD quality or the amp's upscaled 1080i sufficient ?

Given the size of your screen I believe there would a noticeable benefit in having 1080p over 1080i. Therefore, I would be inclined to switch to the 875 or even 876 if funds allow.

Depends on the distance you sit from the tv as well. .
