Hi there,

I have an old set od KEF Eggs lying about in the garage and was thinkinh "I could use them somehow" . Have full set e.g. 5 Eggs and Sub woofer.

I would like to use them as speakers (stereo system not full surround sound) on a system that has either Airplay or standard 30 pin docking connector, but I have no idea what I need to do this. Anyone got any recommendations?

It for use in the garage while tinkering about ...and I have wirelss access in garage.

thanks in advance

You could consider a Denon DM39 use two eggs in left and right speaker jacks, connect the sub to the subwoofer out. you could then use your i device charger into the usb port on the front of the DM39.

Thanks for the recommendation sounds good specially with What Hi-Fi 5 stars, can even get it with a bluetooth module from PeterTyson

or from Amazon with module and speaker cables

DM39 a good suggestion.

Alternative = buy an old Denon or Rotel amp for around £40 on eBay, get a 30 pin connector to 2 phono cable for not much money. Plug iPhone / iPad in, off you go. £50 max.

Should sound pretty good. If / when the amp expires just buy another.

My dad uses 2 Kef eggs together with a small BK Gemini sub (£220). That is when he remembers to swtich the sub on (he is 83 and getting very forgetful), the eggs sound quite good without it. Good enough for a garage I would have thought.

nb or go bluetooth with an adapter, as per the Peter Tyson offer (although there are slightly cheaper options e.g. Belkin. Have a look on Amazon)

Thanks for the reply and good call ref second hand items...will look into that as well.

Also looking at a Denon CEOL Piccolo as has network connectivity and Airplay as well as internet radio and gets 5 stars...maybe a bit overkill for a garage but in there a lot...wife likes the soaps and I ...well you can guess
