It's one of the most popular certainly, yes. Prices are still okay for it too, but performance wise, it's been matched for some time now and likely bettered too.

I had the RCD975. Good player but matched or bettered by my old Arcam 73T. More than performance, these old players are 25 years old - 25 years of wear 'n' tear on the laser on the drawer mechanism... the problem mine had.

Personally I wouldn't look at players above 5 years old.
