IT WAS THE ADVICE ON HERE THAT KNACKERED THE TV IN THE FIRST PLACE

I believe the advice you got was about an Amplifier not a Plasma TV.

But you were warned not to mess about with the TV, and not to start fitting parts that where wrong, so don't blame people on here for your decision to go on tinkering with it.

If you had borrowed £100 to £200 from your family you could have got a expert to look at it.

No it was you who caused the problem after misreading some completely unrelated advice. We would never suggest anyone taking the back off a TV to clean it in this way.

And please don't insult other members, as it is against the house rules and could lead to you being banned - I have deleted your term of abuse.

quite amused me that the part of the term of abuse he chose to cnsor for himself was the "clean" part!

Ohhhhhh my dear godddddddddddd!

this thread is pricless! First off, dont go blaming these guys for your ***-up. It was YOU who took the back of a perfectly good plasma tv of your own volition! anyone with half an ounce of common sense would NEVER rip a tv apart or anything else hifi for that matter!
Anyway, i gotta go and take my meridian g68 processor apart for the sheer hell of it

P.S alan sugar wont help! He'll just fire ya!:)

Hey thats a thought! i you want a job to pay for all this, dont get one as a tv repair man!:)

Indeed, which was why I deleted the bit he left after he'd cut the head off, so to speak.

Oh my god !, i cant believe your mentioning "cutting heads off" on a forum that VANMAN is reading!!!!!. I hope to god all his kitchen knives are far to blunt from useage on previous household repairs to do any serious damage

It was probably a capacitor. You
have voided your warranty by taking the back off, and will probably be expesive
to repair. I advise you take it to a dealership.
Just a quick reminder of the original reply I posted... maybe I shouldn't have given him the name of the component that may have broke? Here's hoping he doesn't sue me for planting the seed, although I think I covered myself by telling him to take it to a dealership. I think that this is one of the biggest and best wind ups I have ever seen. Vanman has done well to keep it going this far. I think that if it was genuine, he wouldn't be giving us so many updates or running commentry like the "it is working but there is a humming noise coming from the back"... we all know this isn't an electrical DIY forum, so why ask us? I am also intrigued to know the name of the company, because I can't find anything in the way of a pay as you view other than hire purchase, and they don't normally trust people who can't get better credit than 29.9% APR with expensive sets like a 50in Pioneer.

I think that a video of this on YouTube would be very popular! Be a bit exspensive to make though if you used a real PIoneer 50" - a "stunt double" made of cardboard or plastic would be the order of the day me thinks!

We could ask vanman if we can borrow his... then it can be more of an autobiographical feature

As I said yesterday, this is classic troll behaviour. Start a nutty topic which sounds really wacky, and then wait for everyone to laugh at you, or criticise you. Then, blame everyone else for how wacky you have been, and how nasty everyone is.

He even manages to find someone who he likes, and praises for their advice. He then hopes to use that person to divide posters against each other. I always thought this was a wind up. I don't think his story makes sense. First he has no money, and then he just borrows £2800 for another Pioneer.

Anyone taking guesses on the next post from vanman? Logic suggests that the visit from the hp company will not go well.... I can imagine that the television will be left with vanman and he will be told to pay the amount in full.... but he can't afford it because he already owes family £2800.... next will come the CCJ.... but in order to pay up he decides to dust down the broken pioneer and sell is as good condition on ebay, making sure the winner pays for postal insurance.... subsequently, angry bidder makes complaint, police get involved, and being a policeman, I am already aware of this thread, and vanman gets charged with fraud and sends us all angry posts from his cell in prison which has a pay-per-view 50in pioneer in the rec room.... hold on.... it's the same pioneer that he bought second hand and the baliffs took off him to sell at auction where a shrewd prison governor bought it with his left over budget! Cruel, cold justice is served

No I am not very annoyed all the time. I was VERY ANNOYED when I joined this site because I had just had a run in with Dixons Direct. So I needed a screen name, and that one sprung to mind.

By the way, Patsy is prettier than you.

I think if you put me in the same room as Patsy Kensit I'd run from the room, house, country screaming.

I've seen her up close. Very odd ears.
I'm half way there then.

I was on a plane with her once. Economy. From Gatwick. This was pre-Emmerdale, obviously (although maybe not, the rates we pay.....).
