Look on the bright side vanman, if the company repocess the tv, that will be one less bill to worry about & you won't have the headache each week of trying to find the money. Tip if you put a little bit of money away each week, you could save up & buy a new one & have something to look forward to at christmas.
thats very very fast for any credit company to send in court balifs to repossess goods..............
Unless he has signed title of ownership of the new TV over to the company, which is unlikely, they can only collect the broken TV.

The way I understand it is that he has not got a hire purchase agreement against his new TV.

Vanman, after reading your post, I decided that if you thought it was a good idea to clean the inside of your TV, then I better give the inside of mine a clean too. However the Mr Sheen that I sprayed inside seems to have caused a bit of a problem with the sharpness of the picture. (Although there is a nice fragrance when it warms up) Can you tell me what I need to do to make the picture right again please. I only did it because I was following your thread, which makes you ultimately responsible for my broken tv. I don't want to have to send you a bill for a new tv so please help.

I suspect the mother and brother are going to repossess as they lent him the money. Probably the mother will have the top half and the brother the bottom half.

I'd suggest they use a standard wood saw when it comes to dividing the goods, as using anything electrical might short out some of the circuits.

EDIT - oh dear god, I forgot who was posting to! Please note, the professor does not recommend sawing a television in half with any tool and is vehemently against any such practise.

If sawing a tv with any tool is not advised, could you clarify for me whether a Karate chop down the middle would be a safer method of dividing the tv time between my other half and me ?
If this is ok can anyone decide which half I should watch ? Will most of the action be in the Pompey or Cardiff half ?

Any sensible replies to Vanny please

For those of you old enough to remember Steptoe and Son, the safest way is to build a dividing wall through the living room leaving half the telly in each side.

Now your giving away your age.

I guess you will remove this post but who cares I just wanted to say this is my last post as the help i got on here was rubbish and as you know because of some advice it cost me a lot of money and wreaked my pioneer tv and my mum and brother are not speaking to me because i am unable to pay them back the £2000 they lent me to buy the new tv

I know I really shouldn't post this as, I'm pretty sure this is a windup, but, what the hell, I'll bite!

Vanman, if you'd taken the advice of my first post on the very first page i.e.
Just be careful! Don't need a seriously burnt (or dead
emotion-8.gif
) vanman on our hands! If you're not sure, get someone in to do it. TVs can be dangerous objects.
Since you clearly weren't sure what you were doing, if you had taken that advice, you wouldn't be in the position you are now. Also, there is post after post from other people saying "Stop!" after this as well, but blindly on you carried and caused all the damage. Your position is your own fault completely and no one else's.

Don't sweat it Prof, it's a wind up.Even if it isn't the only person to be held responsible is Vanman as he was the one who took the final decision to unscrew the bak casing of "his" TV. Shame he doesn't have the testicular fortitude to put his hands up and say "yes, it was my fault, no one to blame ut me".

Yes its a wind up- no one would be that stupid and admit it on such a prestigious forum !! Would they ?
emotion-10.gif

But what a joy its been. In years to come posts will still be going on "Vanmans Bodge it Forum' discussing whether a bit of fairy liquid squirted in the back will sort out probs on a smeary OLED picture. I can't wait

Maybe you should put the old tv on a bonfire and burn it, it won't fix it, but at least you'll see the screen light up again!

Actually I take that back before you sue me when all the gases expode from the cells.

Dispose of it carefully in accordance with the handbooks instructions ie don't DIY disposal!!!! ...and certainly don't burn it!

Take this as an expensive lesson. Like others have said, you've been lucky to get away with your life. Some of those capacitors potentially store more charge than a hospital defribulator and we all know what they do to a healthy person.

You know what the worst thing is about this thread? If you'd taken it to be repaired after the intial bang, it would probably have cost you a couple of hundred dollars but you'd have still had a working tv now. Each progressive fix with the wrong component has just caused more and more damage.

One of my favourite movie quotes: "You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity".

excellent. surely this thread should get an award for going on so long and comical pretense, any takers for the 200th post on this thread. poor vanman if only he'd listened to our advice and got a repair man to look at it.
