Off-spring off to Uni.

I can imagine that'd be great for you, but she'll be missing out on the social aspect of Uni life a lot. So for her sake, I hope that doesn't happen!
You are correct. She needs to get out there and socialise or spread her wings. The issue is she's painfully shy, suffering social anxiety. Any friends she's made here they have approached her first.

Even though she's expressed the need to come home at weekends, the novelty of travelling an hour plus each way I reckon will wear thin after a while. So far she hasn't spent a full week yet, so it's still early days. Think once she gets into the course work at Uni her attitude will change towards coming home on a regular basis.

Atm it's softly, softly catchy....

I'm sure my daughter has lost the plot. The last few months she's been using ear buds. She's had them since the Autumn.

Bear in mind she's at Uni. Back home she has a p/time job as a pharmaceutical assistant at our village Boots.

Anyway, last night I asked her how much they cost her. She replied: "Not telling you, dad. You'll be disappointed." After a few wrong guesses, she revealed: £230. I suddenly had a speech defect -- my jaw hit the ground. They match her Apple iPhone. They are the Airpod Pro. After I stopped my head shaking, I said, "I'm going to make GP's appointment for you."
"What? Why?" I responded, "so they can give you a check-up from the neck up."

Yup. I wasn't annoyed just a little disappointed given she can only work in holiday period: Christmas, Easter and summer....

Mind you, I was spending shed loads at her age. The difference, though, I had full-time employment in engineering, earning good money for a 19-year old.

This Airpod Pro has all the bells and whistles, and because it's a Apple product it's quite robust.

Hey-ho.

I had a couple of Sprints. The last one, in Inca yellow, was made in September 1980. BL stopped production of all Dolomites in that same month. The last one was 6 years old and I recently tracked it down to a owner in 2015. That owner kindly sent photos to me (below)

When my daughter went off to university many years ago, we did not have much money and I sold off my entire HiFi system in order to buy her a laptop. I sold the gear to the same HiFi dealer who originally sold me the system (Naim & Epos), I remember at the time the dealer who was concerned for me said at the time "your sure you want to do this...?" Yes it was painful (very painful...) but I hoped it would be a good investment. I am happy to say it was a very good investment now she runs her own company which has attracted serious investors so it is seriously expanding. Maybe when sometime in the future I can persuade her to buy me the system of my dreams (ATCSCM40A with all necessary components..) or am I just dreaming....?

They always say be good to your children because they are the ones who choose your care home...... 😄

My daughter has decided to quit University. She hates N. London: beggars asking her for money, people laying on the pavement using illicit substances... won't hold that against her.

She's now going to look at an apprenticeship in the Spring, and she correctly said, she'll be doing the same studies as Uni but getting paid....smart move in these tough times.

She has another bow to her string: she's had a part-time job in our village Boots. They've asked her to work full-time. She already makes up prescriptions, and if she decides to train as a pharmacist technician, once qualified, she'll be on really good money.

And to be honest Mrs. P and I are relieved not to worry about her safety in a alien environment that is London.

At the end of the day PP her happiness is all that really matters. Degrees aren't necessarily a passport to a better job or contentment.

Wish I had done an apprenticeship instead of degree. Degree jobs are seriously hard to get. I also went to Uni that was just across the road from where I lived.

Today is my daughter's 21st. Because our place isn't big enough she's commandeered her grandmother's house for the weekend with her friends. Nanny has done a runner around her friends place until tomorrow afternoon.

My daughter's very sensible but I wish she would cause more havoc for one day only. I would laugh like a drain.
