No Sound

I have a Panasonic Plasma TV, Sony Receiver, and Sony Blu-ray Player. I have connected the Panasonic Plasma TV to my Sony receiver via HDMI. I have connected the Sony Blu-ray Player to my Sony Receiver via HDMI. Here is what I get:

Blu-ray picture and sound = great!

TV picture = great!

TV sound = no sound out of receiver speakers!

Does anyone have the answer?

You have not stated which models of TV and receiver you have?

I am guessing that the cable or equipment you are using will not be HDMI 1.4 compliant with the ARC (audio return channel). So the HDMI you are using to connect the TV to the receiver will only transfer the picture to the TV. You will probably need to use an optical digital (TOSlink) connection between the TV and the receiver to transfer the sound to the receiver.
