Will try for sure, thanks for the advise.
Sorry for not being more helpful but I was also very surprised when we connected the AMS to the SF by the amount of bass present...which at certain moments was more than enough....
At this topic, how would you reduce booming if would start to become a problem and repositioning speakers does not work?
I had the reverse thing happen (sort of). I was so impressed by a pair of Spendor SA1 (with my amp/cdp), in a room a little smaller than you were in, that I took them home to try.
The room here was much bigger, and the poor wee things sounded like a portable....they were completely overwhemed by the room and had almost no bass at all.
Factors effecting boomy bass:
- The speakers are "over-driving" the room.
- ISOLATION. If they are on a suspended wooden floor, it can be a nightmare as the bass is exaggerated by the space below, like a big sound box.
- ACOUSTICS of the room itself and how well/accurately it is damped.
- How capable the amp is of controlling the woofers, which is down to current and damping factor.
- Cables. Some are lean and some are bloated sounding in the bass.
- Speaker positioning/design....where/if the're ported and the amount of free space they need etc.
I can't help feeling that the SF, when fed with the 35i, overwhemed the space they were in....and if on a suspended floor, this would have been magnified further. Remember, the height of the ceiling and the shape of the room all have an effect.
