Hi all,

I'm looking to finally replace my HD ready telly, and I'm having a tough time trying to decide between the Panasonic UT60 and the Samsung 60D550 (I chose these two because they're within my budget). Smart features are less of a concern, and they're more or less the same price.

Any recommendations?

The problem is, the D series Samsungs are two generations old, can you still buy them? The UT60 is not a model in the UK, did you mean UT50 or ST60 perhaps? Are you based elsewhere?

What is your budget, maybe someone can make a suggestion?

Hi,

I live outside the UK, and outside the higher-class models (65ST, etc.), these are themodels that fit my budget - roughly 1,500 pounds.

Both are 3D, 1080p models. The Panasonic model doesn't include glasses while the Samsung does plus an extra HDMI (3 vs 2 on the Panny).

Obviously the Samsung has more advanced "smart" capabilities, plus built-in wi-fi, unlike the Panny where you need an extra dongle.

I will guess from your forum name that you are US based, I would consider this if it is in budget:

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN60E6500-60-Inch-1080p-Plasma/dp/B0077T0TUS

$1488, I have the 51" version and its a great TV, the 60" supposedly has better black level performance than the 51".

And a review of the 60-inch British version is here http://www.trustedreviews.com/samsung-ps60e6500_TV_review_3d-and-verdict_Page-1

My nieghbour two floors above me in my block of flats, on my recommendation, bought this very 60-inchSamsung television from Currys for about £1,600 about four months ago, and he seems quite happy with it!
