i made the mistake of allowing my 18 yr old daughter free reign of house and my Hi-fi for her party. Result, predictably, is speakers kaput. The tweeters work but nothing out of bass speakers (on both sides). Can anyone help with ways of testing whether its likely to be blown speakers themselves or perhaps on the cross over board?

Thanks for any help and advice. John

You can take out the bass drivers and put your speaker cables direct to the drive unit terminals. This is only recommended for s units, NOT treble units as this will blow them.

Speakers of this type and vintage (mid 1980s, small KEFs*) are very inexpensive on ebay (as are any number of good, small, 2-way bookshelf speakers from British makers) so I would recommend spending a modest amount on a pair of similar speakers rather than investigate repair charges.

* NAD 8020e speakers were made by KEF.
