Regarding issues with motion i have seen none at all but must admit to never watching football so cannot comment on the motion issue that has been mentioned but gaming, bluray and DVD are all superb.

Why dont you watch a bit of football tonight, i think ITV HD have some on, i would be interested to see if you spot anything as im still interested in this TV but havent been able to test any HD football in store

Hi tvspecv,

How do you do that? changing between one doing the upscaling and something else doing it?

Thanks

Gel,

If you want your TV to do the upscaling, all you have to do is set your receiver to let the signal pass through at it's native resolution rate, i.e., 576p, for example.

You TV screen will then upscale that signal using the internal scalar to 1080p.

I dont have any HD channels as i dont watch much if any television and as much as i appreciate many people are fans of football I would rather have my eyes poked out with hot pokers whilst someone rips out my nails with a pair of pliers rather than watch a football match :)

But as is true with A/V and many other things taste is subjective.

Watching a football game would definitely be less painful, unless if you're watching England play!!

maxflinn:well i wasnt looking for any specific problems , just watching the footie like normal , ill be watching spurs on wed evening on itvhd , ill keep an eye out for any motion issues then , if i see anything ill post my findings here ..

Ok I will be interested to see how it goes, i noticed it straight away, this was with IFC off, just watch the half way line when the camera pans across the pitch, thats how i spotted it

yep , seen it straight away , with ifc off . when the main camera pans from one side to another , when the keeper punts the ball downfield for example , the centre line kind of shimmers momentarily , but it isnt at all distracting , i can only see it if i go looking for it , when im just watching the game i dont see it ..

and its only the centre line ? strange , turning on ifc makes it even less visible , ill keep watching anyways with ifc off and see if i can find any other minor discrepancies ...

Yep thats it, are you watching in HD? Sky or FreeSat? Maybe its not as bad in HD as I only had SD footage.

Whats strange is that if you watch football on sky 3d or the 3d demo on the panny demo blu ray you dont see the problem, apparently it is mainly 50hz material that has this problem, anything on sky or freeview etc. Blu ray etc is fine and dosent have the issue.

If thats true about the 50hz issue then im amazed that panasonic would sell a set in the UK which has these problems. although nothing has been offically confirmed..

, it would certainly explain alot, and since i have had this one i have looked at other panasonic on demos in shops and thought this one does not look like them.

Fingers crossed i get it sorted tomorrow.

I went for a demo in a different shop today and the guy had a load of recorded world cup footage from ITV HD, it played back perfectly , no motion problems , no double center lines, no problems at all.

As mentioned before i demoed in a different shop a few weeks ago with SD footy from my Sky HD box and noticed the problem straight away.

Now thats odd, one store it looks fine, the other store had the motion problems.. now im confused

watching the villa game in sd on itv4 with ifc off , and i can see that strange artifact again , when the camera pans across the pitch there is a faint duplicate of the half way line next to it , its barely visible , but there nonetheless , but as i said before , i dont see it unless i keep focused on the line , its not what id personally consider a problem , and motion on the whole is very good ...

Honestly guys, you're going to drive yourself insane if you're trying to judge the quality of your TVs by watching ITV4. The bit-rate - and resulting picture quality - of the broadcasts are typically so low that i'd doubt any decent-sized Full HD screen could render them happily watchable.

Add in the rubbish weather/atmospherics and you've a recipe for viewing woe.

Go watch a nice Blu-ray - or HD channel; or at least a main terrestrial channel - instead. PLEASE!
