Hi, i have the chance to buy the MA BRW10 today but having spent the last 4 hours looking them both up on the net im at my wits end!!!

I was all set for the BRW10 until i read some really bad reviews. Then i decided on th MJ, but its slightly above budget and would have to order online.

Can anyone advise me as to how good or bad the BRW10 is as i really would like to get it today!

I must mention this is my 1st subwoofer so would even a less than impressive sub improve my system?

thanks

Hi

I would suggest contacting some of the dealers who contribute to the forum for advice if you really need to act today, you don't have to buy from them as they give opinion freely

You should check out the BK range - particularly the XLS200

I think they used to be the OEM manufacturer of MJ

Very highly rated - Google them!

BK XLS200

Yeah i like the look of these and people seem to rave about them, it's just the 3-4 week delivery time.

No its not a con.

These are ones that people either cancelled orders, or returned.

They are legit. and being sold by BK direct

Look at the feedback

I know you have nothing to compare it to, but let us no how it sounds, as not many reviews for BK subs for some reason.

They gave what hi-fi a gemini, but have not heard any of the others being reviewed, which is a shame for a much talked about subwoofer.

Work the sub in gently, dont go playing master and commander or black hawk down at high level

It needs at least 2 weeks

Ok had this sub now for 3 weeks, was going to post my thoughts earlier but been kind of busy.

Anyway my thoughts, unpacked it and was very impressed with the build quality, even the boss said she thought it looked nice, although she she soon said ' ooooh i can put that potpourri bowl on it'

Yeah right!!!

So connected it up and ran auto calibration, put Independence Day on and checked out a few scenes and to be honest i couldn't hear anything, so i upped the gain but had to turn it to max to hear a little bass!!

So i thought this cant be right so ran it again checked settings turned the sub up a few notches on receiver and it was better but not by much.

So then i tested the levels with a SPL meter on my iphone and the speakers and sub needed some adjustment, ID4 on again and boom, so much better.

But after a few weeks i still wasn't 100% sure or happy it was set up right. So i did the sub crawl on Saturday, I was shocked at how much this affects the bass performance. Now instead of it by the side of the TV stand it's in the corner 30cm from side wall and 12cm from back wall.

Ran auto setup again adjusted sub distance as i noticed this was way off, and hey presto this is what i was wanting

Put Jurassic Park on on Sky and was amazed!!! Then on Sunday afternoon Godzilla Blu-Ray, and all i can say is WOW!! It was like being at the cinema, every time Godzilla walked I had a big smile on my face.

One thing I have also noticed is how much my other speakers seem to have come alive, I heard that this can happen what with less stress on them, but was impressed with how they sounded.

I know i have nothing to compare this with so I'm not going to say its the best pound for pound sub around but i cant be any happier.

Now just need to save for the front three upgrade!!!
