Hi all
I would appreciate some input on the issue of power - watts/current in a power amp.
I am looking at getting either the Moon W7 or W8 to go with Sonus Faber Amati speakers.
W7 = 150wpc in to 8 ohms, doubling to 300wpc to 4 ohms
W8 = 250wpc to 8 and 500 wpc to 4 ohms
Amati = 4 ohm speaker.
I think the 2 amps are very similar designs, other than the increased power and I was wondering what benefits I will hear through the additional current capability.
Especially in regard to the fact that I won't always be able to listen at 'demo' volumes, whilst at home. Will I get more out of having higher power, even at a slightly reduced volume, with the additional control of the speakers?
The speakers are efficient at 92db, but I have read that they may like power when available!
Any insight or things to consider would be appreciated.
cheers
Nig
