Monitor Audio package needs no introduction......Award winner for packages +£1500 2009, and 2010........

Were I to purchase them (without sub, as I have my AE Radiance), I would possibly replace the rear speakers for something like the Radius R90HD's, as the rears are positioned at each end of the couch....

The alternative from Kef:

KEF Q500, Q200 centre, and the KEF 3005 se eggs as rears......(again with AE Radiance sub)

Going to demo them soon, but has anyone compared these set ups or similar......

Any thoughts/comments?

I'm having the same dilemma myself but don't know how well the Kefs will pair with the Pioneer SC-LX73/83 I'm about to order. I can't find anywhere to demo this combination so any advice from the pro's would be appreciated.

Shame, we're about half an hour or so away!

I've not heard the new Q's on the SCLX receivers at the moment, but I'll put it on my list of stuff to test out for forum members - hopefully tomorrow/Tuesday - I'll be intruiged myself, as it could be an extremely strong combination....

I felt it sounded better than the RX package on the end of a Yamaha - the Yamahas are slightly warm, which there's nothing wrong with that, but in conjunction with the warm, smooth MA's, it can be a little much. KEF have always gone very well with Yamaha.

I'm guessing I'm going to like the LX83/Q package a lot....

Some people thought the older KEF's were bright. In the past, KEF have always had a leaner tonal balance, which brings forward the treble and midrange. With the bass not so prominent, you can hear more of what's going on in the audio mix. Some people like it, some people don't, and some are just not used to it, and label it bright.

The new KEF's are warmer and fuller now thanks to their 'normal' square cabint, but they've not lost transparency - if anything, they seemed to have improved it! They do retain a certain amount of liveliness, but it's not excessive. So far, they seem to be one of the most three dimensional speakers under £1,000. They're not perfect by any means, but then, no speaker in his price bracket is.

Have you got all three speakers mentioned (KEF Q, MA RX6 B&W 684 packages) available for demo at the moment?

If so, should I just call up and arrange a day/time?

Selected demos I'm afraid. We have five demo areas (three rooms), within which to fit 6 manufacturers. Specific demos would be better on a personal visit. I will be posting up on here tomorrow exactly what we'll have in each area of the store
